Operation Sindoor was launched as a response to the attack that took place in Pahalgam on April 22, killing 26 civilians. During the press briefing on May 7, India clarified its response as focused, measured, and non-escalatory.
Following widespread criticism of its application to register ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a trademark, Reliance Industries has clarified that it has no intention of trademarking the same.
A media statement issued by Reliance Industries Ltd. says, “Reliance Industries has no intention of trademarking Operation Sindoor, a phrase which is now a part of the national consciousness as an evocative symbol of Indian bravery.
Jio Studios, a unit of Reliance Industries, has withdrawn its trademark application, which was filed inadvertently by a junior person without authorization. Reliance Industries and all its stakeholders are incredibly proud of Operation Sindoor, which came about in response to a Pakistan-sponsored terror attack in Pahalgam.
Operation Sindoor is the proud achievement of our brave Armed Forces in India’s uncompromising fight against the evil of terrorism. Reliance stands fully in support of our government and Armed Forces in this fight against terrorism. Our commitment to the motto of ‘INDIA FIRST’ remains unwavering.”
It may be noted here that Reliance had on May 7 applied (no. 6994264; class 41) with the Trademarks Registry to register ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a wordmark for Goods & Services under the following description:
Provision of entertainment; production, presentation and distribution of Bollywood’s audio, video, still and moving images and data; publishing services including electronic publishing services; the provision of discussion forums; non-downloadable electronic publications; organisation, production, and presentation shows, competitions, games, concerts, exhibitions and events; language teaching; provision of information and advisory services relating to any of the aforesaid services.
Operation Sindoor, The name is an apparent reference to the widows left by the Pahalgam terrorist attacks in April that killed 26 men. Some have interpreted the name to be vengeance for the women who were widowed because of the attack.
Tensions continue to escalate between India and Pakistan after India launched “Operation Sindoor” on Wednesday, killing at least 31 civilians. India’s operation came in response to an attack by militants in India-administered Kashmir that killed more than two dozen people.
The press briefing on Operation Sindoor was led by Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Sin, who outlined details of the tri-services operation to the media. India carried out 24 missile strikes to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack.
India launched Operation Sindoor after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. The operation was precise, targeting only terror camps and avoiding Pakistani military sites. India’s actions in Operation Sindoor were not about revenge but were about defence and keeping its citizens safe.
