Bomb Threat on IndiGo Flight from Ahmedabad to Patna Triggers Security Alert; Turns Out to Be Hoax
In a dramatic turn of events on Wednesday, an IndiGo flight en route from Ahmedabad to Patna sparked a major security scare after receiving a bomb threat shortly before its scheduled landing.
The incident, which occurred just before the aircraft arrived at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna, prompted swift action from airport authorities and security personnel.
The flight in question—IndiGo 6E921—was carrying 192 passengers on board. It was due to land in Patna at approximately 12:45 PM when the bomb threat was received.
Although officials have remained tight-lipped about the exact source or method of the threat communication, they confirmed that an alert was issued and all necessary safety protocols were immediately activated.
“As a precautionary measure, the aircraft was granted priority landing clearance to ensure passenger safety,” said a senior official at Patna airport. “The plane landed safely without any incident, and all passengers were disembarked in an orderly manner.”
The bomb threat sent security forces into high alert. Personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), along with local Patna police officials, rushed to the airport as soon as the threat was reported.
A bomb disposal squad was also summoned to the site and initiated a meticulous search operation.
“The aircraft was subjected to an intensive security sweep that lasted for over an hour,” said Santosh Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Airport police station.
“All baggage, cargo holds, and cabin spaces were thoroughly checked by the bomb detection and disposal team. No suspicious objects or explosives were found during the operation.”
Following the exhaustive inspection and with no evidence of any explosive devices or threat materials aboard, the aircraft was declared completely safe by the authorities.
Although the passengers experienced a tense and delayed conclusion to their journey, no injuries or harm were reported.
The situation was handled professionally and efficiently, minimizing disruption and maintaining passenger safety as the top priority.
Authorities have since launched a formal investigation to trace the origin of the false threat and to determine the individual or group responsible for causing the panic.
Law enforcement agencies are examining all possible leads, including electronic communication logs and call records, to uncover how the hoax was executed.
Bomb threats to civil aviation are treated with the utmost seriousness, and officials have reiterated that such pranks or malicious acts are criminal offenses under Indian law. Strong legal action is likely once the perpetrator is identified.
This incident adds to a growing list of false bomb threats reported across Indian airports in recent times, raising concerns about aviation security and the need for stricter deterrents.
Meanwhile, normal operations at the Patna airport resumed shortly after the aircraft was cleared.
