Magh Mela to Reflect the Seven Energy Chakras Through Color-Coded Sectors and Pontoon Bridges

Prayagraj: The Magh Mela this year is being planned with a unique spiritual and aesthetic concept rooted in Ayurveda and Yoga.

Since these ancient disciplines describe seven energy chakras within the human body, the fair area has been divided into seven sectors, each connected by seven pontoon bridges, symbolically mirroring these chakras.

The seven chakras — Sahasrara, Ajna, Vishuddhi, Anahata, Manipura, Swadhisthana and Muladhara — are believed to facilitate the awakening of consciousness.

According to Sanatan Dharma, the activation of these energy centres plays a vital role in attaining moksha (liberation).

These chakras are also traditionally associated with the seven colours of the rainbow, which is the guiding theme of this year’s Magh Mela design.

As part of this concept, the seven rainbow colours will be prominently displayed across different sectors of the fair and at their respective entrance gates.

Devotees arriving for Kalpavas will experience this visual symbolism while following the disciplines of renunciation, purity, sattvic living, celibacy, self-restraint, devotion, meditation and charity — all integral to the spiritual journey toward liberation.

Each of the seven sectors will be decorated according to the colour corresponding to one of the energy chakras.

Entry gates for every sector will also be designed in matching colours. In addition, all pontoon bridges across the Mela area are being painted saffron, reinforcing the spiritual ethos of the event.

A three-foot-wide colour-coded boundary strip will be installed along the perimeter of each sector. This strip will display the emblem of the Uttar Pradesh government along with the official symbol of the Magh Mela.

The colour allocation for the sectors is as follows:

  • Sector One: Red
  • Sector Two: Saffron
  • Sector Three: Yellow
  • Sector Four: Green
  • Sector Five: Sky Blue
  • Sector Six: Blue
  • Sector Seven: Violet

Through this thoughtful blend of spirituality, symbolism and visual design, the Magh Mela aims to offer devotees not just a pilgrimage, but a deeply immersive spiritual experience.
