Lucknow: In a major move to ensure fairness and accuracy in electoral rolls, Uttar Pradesh Police has registered the state’s first-ever FIR against a family for allegedly submitting false information while filling out Special Intensive Revision (SIR) forms during the voter list update drive.

The case, filed in Rampur, involves Noorjahan and her two sons — Aamir Khan and Danish Khan — who have been residing abroad in Dubai and Kuwait for several years.

Authorities allege that Noorjahan intentionally concealed this information and even forged her sons’ signatures in the documents submitted for the electoral roll.

Rampur District Magistrate Ajay Kumar Dwivedi said the violations came to light during the digital verification process conducted by Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

The Special Intensive Revision is being carried out with total transparency and strict adherence to the Election Commission’s instructions,” the DM stated. “Hiding facts or furnishing false details in voter forms is a serious offence and will not be tolerated.”

By invoking the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, the administration has sent a clear message: every citizen must provide accurate voter details, and any attempt to manipulate the system will face legal consequences.

This action stands as a strong deterrent against fraudulent entries and highlights the importance of maintaining a clean, credible and trustworthy electoral roll — the foundation of a healthy democracy.
