Marking a symbolic resurgence of Ayodhya’s ancient glory reminiscent of the Treta Yuga, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the holy city on Thursday, June 6, where he inaugurated development projects worth ₹30 crore and laid the foundation stone for additional projects amounting to ₹33 crore.

His visit to the revered temple town on his 53rd birthday was packed with spiritual, civic, and environmental engagements that aimed to further transform Ayodhya into a globally admired pilgrimage and cultural destination.

Restoring Ayodhya’s Ancient Grandeur

During his public address, CM Yogi emphasized how Ayodhya is undergoing an extraordinary transformation — spiritually, infrastructurally, and globally.

Drawing parallels with the sacred epoch of the Ramayana, he said the city is regaining its lost stature and spiritual aura, becoming a living symbol of India’s civilizational heritage.

“There was a time when Ram devotees were subjected to violence — bullets were fired at them, they were beaten with lathis simply for expressing their devotion.

But look at Ayodhya today — the same city now greets those very devotees with flower showers and provides them clean, RO-purified drinking water. Ayodhya is setting new standards for spiritual hospitality and is redefining the principle of Atithi Devo Bhava (Guests are Gods),” he declared.

Celebrating Mahant Nritya Gopal Das and the Spirit of Ram Janmabhoomi

One of the central highlights of the visit was the 87th birthday celebration of Shri Mahant Nritya Gopal Das Ji Maharaj, the President of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Paying tribute to the veteran saint and spiritual leader, Adityanath credited him for his unwavering leadership during the decades-long Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

“It is both a spiritual blessing and personal privilege to be part of this celebration. I extend my heartfelt wishes for his health, longevity, and continued guidance.

His spiritual leadership has been a cornerstone in realizing the vision of the Ram Temple,” said the Chief Minister.

Adityanath underscored that the successful culmination of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement — culminating in the Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ram Lalla on January 22, 2024 — was a testament to the endurance and faith of millions of devotees over five centuries.

He emphasized that this event symbolizes the spiritual resurgence of Sanatan Dharma and marks a new chapter in India’s civilizational journey.

Ayodhya as a Global Spiritual and Cultural Hub

Positioning Ayodhya as a global icon of Hindu faith and Indian culture, Adityanath said the city’s spiritual energy now resonates across the world. “The construction of the grand Ram Mandir is not just a religious milestone but a powerful emblem of India’s cultural renaissance,” he said.

He noted that the entire town, from its temples to public infrastructure, is being developed by the spiritual and aesthetic ideals of ancient India, aimed at creating a seamless experience for pilgrims and visitors from across the world.

Reviving India’s Sacred Geography and Environmental Consciousness

Adityanath’s visit coincided with World Environment Day, which he marked with a symbolic tree plantation drive.

He planted a sapling at Chaudhary Charan Singh Pushp Vatika in Ayodhya and urged citizens to participate in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (One Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The campaign calls on every Indian to plant at least one tree in memory or honor of their mother, fostering an emotional connection with environmental stewardship.

“If each of us plants a tree dedicated to our mothers, we will never encounter an environmental crisis. Our duty towards Mother Earth begins with honoring the mother who gave us life,” he said.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister had planted a Bel tree at his official residence in Lucknow. In Ayodhya, he expanded his green initiative by planting Peepal, Pakad, Neem, and other trees associated with the Navgrah (nine celestial bodies) along the banks of the holy Saryu river.

Saryu Jayanti and the Call for River Rejuvenation

Later, participating in the Saryu Jayanti Mahotsav, CM Adityanath emphasized the significance of river restoration and environmental preservation.

He directed all District Magistrates across Uttar Pradesh to identify and rejuvenate at least one river in their respective districts, starting with Ayodhya. He acknowledged the transformation of the Saryu since 2014, pointing out that the river, once heavily polluted, has now been significantly rejuvenated through sustained efforts.

Connecting this effort with broader national goals, he commended the success of the Namami Gange Mission, launched by PM Modi to revive the Ganga.

“Like King Bhagirath, whose penance brought the Ganga to Earth, Prime Minister Modi has rejuvenated our national lifeline. The river now sustains not only Uttar Pradesh but much of India,” Adityanath said, calling Modi the Bhagirath of modern India.

The Chief Minister also reminded the audience of the massive turnout during the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, where over 66 crore devotees bathed in the Ganga — a powerful endorsement of the river’s restored sanctity and the success of environmental initiatives.

A Vision for Viksit Bharat Rooted in Sanatan Values

Adityanath concluded his visit by reiterating that India’s development, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is grounded in the timeless principles of Sanatan Dharma.

He said that the redevelopment of pilgrimage centers such as Ayodhya, Kashi, and Mathura reflects not just infrastructure growth but the spiritual strengthening of the nation.

“Temples and sacred towns are not just places of worship, but spiritual anchors of a resurgent India. Under PM Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India), we are witnessing a harmonious blend of tradition and transformation,” he said.

As Ayodhya continues its metamorphosis into a global beacon of faith and culture, CM Yogi Adityanath’s visit reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to preserve and promote India’s ancient legacy while ushering in a sustainable and spiritually empowered future.
