Five persons involved in communal violence during Durga Puja procession in Bahraich have been nabbed. This includes two men who have been shot in the leg by the police while they were fleeing. This happened during a police encounter with them.

Three of the arrested persons are named accused in the murder of Ram Gopal Misra. The violence broke out in the Mahrajganj area of Bahraich district on the day of immersion of Durga idols.
The encounter took place in Nanpara near Indo Nepal border while the accused were reportedly trying to cross over the border.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohd Fahim, Mohd Talim, Mohd Sarfraz,Mohd Afzal and Abdul Hameed.
Mohd Talim and Mohd Sarfraz were shot in the leg by the police.
The police have seized two guns used in the violence and murder that has disturbed law and order in the area prompting senior administrative and police officials to fly to Bahraich to contain further outbreak of violence.
Besides the above accused persons 55 suspects have been taken into custody by the police in this district where internet services were suspended for four days and cops were on their toes.   
All the five persons had escaped along with their family members on the day of violence. They aimed the same weapons at the STF men who were chasing them.
But STF reacted quickly and instead shot two of them in their leg.
The locals were angry at the police as the accused had managed to escape from the crowd and were also blaming police laxity.
Seeing the situation going out of control , CM Yogi Aditya Nath directed STF Chief Amitabh Yash to reach Bahraich immediately and supervise law and order problem going out of hands. As a result the STF chief even controlled the agitating crowd after drawing his own gun.
The deceased was watching the idol immersion procession from atop the roof of his house when a bullet brought him down. The min violence engulfed the area after this.
