Chandrashekhar Azads original colt pistol with which he shot himself dead instead of getting caught by the British police team chasing him to be on display at the Allahabad Museum soon

It was on 27 February 1931 when Chandrashekhar Azad, the great revolutionary and freedom fighter was surrounded by the British police at the famous Chandrashekhar Azad Park here in Allahabad. This pistol had killed so many Britishers but in the end Azad used it to become a martyr against himself. His resolve to never get caught by the Britishers came to be true. 

The historical Colt pistol belonging to great revolutionary and freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad is all set to be displayed in a bulletproof cover at the Allahabad museum. The pistol will be guarded 24 hours by AK 47-wielding CISF personnel. 

A special care will be taken to protect this rare pistol by ten security personnel round the clock 

Four guards will always be present at te art gallery where the pistol will be kept for public glance. In case any guard leaves his duty for some time he will be replaced by another guard immediately. The security has been arranged shift-wise so that the pistol comes under watch all the time. HD cameras will be placed for recording. 

This unique pistol was manufactured by Colts mANUFcturing company in 1903 in USA. Now this company is known by the name of Colt patent firearm manufacturing company. This .32 ACP, Colt Auto Pistol is a hammerless semi-automatic pistol. Its magazine carries eight bullets. 

 Azad’s pistol did not produce any smoke while firing. 

The pistol was respectfully returned to India by then ASP Nott Bower who had led the operation to nab Chandrashekhar Azad. Azads statue stands tall at the same place where he had shot himself dead rather than falling in the British police’s hands.
 

 The pistol currently being displayed at the gallery is just a replica. The original pistol will be displayed  after the Governors order which is being awaited
