At least four passengers were killed and 50 were injured after fifteen bogies of the Chandigarh- Dibrugarh express train derailed near Gonda in Uttar Pradesh on July 19. Aerial visuals show extensive damage to the derailed bogies.

There was a loud noise followed by darkness, dust, and cries of passengers at the accident site.
Locals, particularly villagers rushed to the scene of the accident and began bringing the injured out from the nearly turtled bogies by breaking window panes in some cases.
According to reports CPRO Eastern Railways Pankaj Kumar has quoted the claim of the loco pilot according to which he heard a loud noise before the derailment.
CM UP Yogi Aditya Nath said rescue and relief operation had been immediately ordered and all; steps were being taken to see that the injured were treated well. THe railway safety commissioner is inquiring into the cause that leads to this tragedy.
Families of the dead will receive compensation of Rs 10 lakh, the seriously injured will be given 2.5 lakh and those with ordinary injuries will get Rs 50,000.
As per reports the track where the accident occurred had been repaired a day earlier. The bogies of the train had started shaking the moment the train negotiated that particular area of the repaired track. The place where the accident took place is 129 km from Lucknow.
Only two of the dead could be identified as  Saroj hailing from Arariya in Bihar and Rahul 38 from Bareilly.
According to sources high alert has been sounded in the NCR region as it was being felt that the soil around the track could have sunk because of the presence of rainwater but this was not a concrete conclusion as we get rain every year and there are areas where tracks are submerged but the train still passes slowly over it under the watch of trackmen.
Railways never make the outcome of inquiries public following accidents. All it did was extend financial aid to the victims. In a way, it covers up its faults.
