She lay dead in the middle of the road. Eyes of most villagers were fixed at the scene but nobody moved. They were either making videos or were just watching while she was being strangled to death by her real elder brother.
Even the neighbors did not move an inch.
The reason behind the killing of this 17-year-old girl by her 28-year-old brother was her affair with a boy almost her age. The brother was furious over the sister because she was in love with this youth who belonged to another religion.
In the morning neighbours heard a commotion in their two-storeyed house.
They thought the husband was bashing his wife. No body said anything as this happened quite often.
Moments later the brother and sister were out on the road. After a few seconds of heated exchange of words the brother caught her by her neck and strangled her to death.
The dying girl tried to resist but she could not meet the brothers strength.
In a viral video, the killer brother is saying “I am saving the honor and dignity of my family…my father”. We tried to convince her several times but she wouldn’t listen. Whenever she felt like she would take a bus and travel 33 km to meet her man. She was so bold that nothing could stop her.
In March she left for the first time. We convinced her and called her back. We begged her to retrace her steps as the boy was from another community.
For some time nothing happened, then one day she again left her house to meet this boys in a Meerut-bound bus.
She was very good in studies and was a very good artist. Suddenly she stopped going to school, we don’t know why.
This boy had come to attend a marriage in the village and it was probably there both had met.
But we have no idea when this llive affair between them started.
There are 6000 families in this village. Only 20 of them are from the minority community.
No body knows how this love blossomed. The girl did not even have a mobile phone. It is difficult to guess how they communicated.
My son is in jail. He has two children. Now what would we do, lamented the mother.
Meanwhile, the man has been charged with murder and has been sent to Jain in judicial custody.
