Jammu Belt Under Constant Gaze: Security Beefed Up:
Even with no immediate happening police and security personnel in the Jammu belt are in a high state of alert and search operations are still said to be going on.
Security forces have even started contacting people individually and were sensitizing them to maintain constant vigil and report to them in case they come across anything suspicious.
The other day a joint serach operation was launched by the army, police and the CRPF in Guda Patan and Jana Chak areas near the Chenab river in the Akhnoor belt.
As per reports security forces have scanned agricultural fields, several villages and all those possible places where terrorists could be taking shelter.
Sources, feel that scattered habitats were quite alluring to the militants because in such cases they easily hide themselves from the watchful eyes of other villagers.
Militants at times exert pressure on people and force them to provide food and shelter during nights.
It may be mentioned that in the recent past there had been several militant strikes in the area and they also had an edge in almost every case because they took others by surprise.
Then there are dark jungles where visibility remains zero even during night. This happens in thick forests. All this make things easier for militants who are on do or die mission.
However, the recent attacks led to the home ministry to issue fresh instructions to military and police commanders in the area and following this the security forces have also pulled up their socks to wipe out terrorism in this belt.
However, the task was not so easy also. The gun wielding security men have been sweating it out day and night looking into every nook and corner to make the area safe.
Also, possibility of few local support to militants has also not been ruled out.
Recently, it had been found out that a woman had cooked food for four militants which was later supplied to them.
Police have rounded up several suspects and were questioning them.
How to stop villagers from coming into contact with militants as well as ensure that villagers do not fall prey to allurements by militants is uppermost in the minds of those manning the area.
