It is said great saints and men of letters never die. They live forever. Kriya Yog mastero Paramhans Yoganand’s memorial and a yoga centre is about to come up at Gorakhpur.

Born and brought up here in a Bengali family the name and fame of Yoganand had spread far and wide hundreds of years ago.
His father was said to be a railway employee and the family had migrated to Gorakhpur from Kolkata.
The Yogi Aditya Nath government has approved a sum of RS 50 crore for a statue and memorial of this great mastero of Kriya Yoga along with a yoga centre.
Yoganand’s father Bhagwati Charan Ghosh was working as a railway employee in 1885. The family lived near Kotwali.
After the construction of the memorial the place is going to attract tourists as Yoganand’s fame is no new. His followers are spread over more than 80 countries.
Having gained mastery in the art of Kriya Yoga, the guru migrated to USA where he lived for several decades, taught Kriya Yoga to millions and transformed their lives.
People mostly know about Yoga but Kriya Yoga is a shade higher. Just 20 minitues of Kriya Yoga has the potential of transforming ones life, says Yog Guru Satyam who runs a perfect Kriya Yoga centre on the sprawling banks of river Ganga in Prayagraj.
The ashram is situated at Jhusi across Ganga.
After the construction of the memorial the city of Gorakhpur expects a boom in cultural and tourist activities.
Older residents of Gorakhpur are happy over the news as it would bring added fame to this city which has the famous Guru Gorakhnaths temple. This place is the centre of ‘Nath Sampradaya’. UP CM Yogi Adityanath, a hindu monk turned politician is also the mahant ( head priest) of Gorakhnath Math.
