The body of a 23-year-old woman found floating in the river at the Mahaveer Ghat in the Shivkuti area has been identified as one Poonam Yadav. Poonam lived in Chotabghara. The postmortem revealed that she was carrying a three-month child.
Poonam’sfather has accused his son-in-law of harassing his daughter.
Awdhesh fended for the family by plying the e-rikshaw. Poonam was the youngest child. In May this year, Poonam was married to one Ishant who lived very close to her house. Ishant works in a gas agency. In the wee hours on Sept 23, Poonam’s father-in-law Raghunath called her father on the phone to enquire whether she was at home. On inquiry, Raghunath revealed that the couple had quarreled in the night. After this, a search for Poonam began. Later her body was found floating.
