Three occupants of a car and three passengers of a bus were killed when both vehicles collided on the Lucknow Agra Expressway late Saturday night. The car occupants were returning after visiting Balaji temple when the accident occurred at Usrahar.
The car driver had dozed off. As a result, the car crashed through the middle fencing of the expressway and collided with the sleeper bus heading to Agra from Lucknow. The bus after the collision overturned causing injuries to 42 persons. Three of its occupants were found dead. The bus was reported to be carrying more than sixty people. One bus occupant was reported to have flung out of the bus after the impact of the collision. The bus reportedly overturned on him.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while expressing grief over the accident has directed the authorities to ensure proper medical treatment of the injured. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi felt deeply saddened over the incident and expressed sympathies for the family members of those who lost their lives in this accident.
