Law students will not be granted marksheets or degrees if a criminal case is registered against them. Law degree seekers will have to submit an affidavit that no criminal case was lodged against them. The Bar Council of India has written to all universities and colleges running law courses to ensure that all admission seekers submit an affidavit at the time of their admission to law courses that there were no criminal cases against them.

The Bar Council of India has also made it clear that strict action will be taken against those students who try to hide things and carry on with their course. The issue has to be reported to the BCI in case a criminal case has been lodged against a student before seeking admission.

The marksheets and degrees will be distributed to the students only after getting clearance from the Bar Council. All institutions imparting law courses have been directed to install CCTV cameras in classrooms and the recordings need to be kept safe for one year.
Students will undergo biometric entry in classrooms, says a missive of the BCI
