Heavy rains lashed out some parts of Eastern accompanied by strong winds. Uttar Pradesh including the Tarai area and Awadh. This caused several accidents in which eight persons lost their lives.
Lamuha in Sultanpur witnessed the heaviest rainfall of 270 mm. Ten houses collapsed here as they could not withstand the onslaught of heavy rains. Five roads were completely cut off,
Electricity poles were uprooted in several districts of the state. There was a complete blackout in 300 villages in Sitapur due to a power outage, The cricket match in Kanpur between India and Bangladesh could not be played because of incessant heavy downpours.
Ayodhya recorded the heaviest rainfall of this season at 120 mm. Water inundated scores of houses and offices in Ayodhya. Traffic came to a standstill on the Prayagraj highway due to a big tree that fell across the road restricting the movement of vehicles.
Water inundated the entire campus of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Ambedkar Nagar. The house of one Dayawati in Shekhangaon under the Inhauna area in Amethi collapsed due to rains. The woman however escaped unhurt. The house of one Khajanchi Maurya also collapsed due to heavy rains.
There were several other reports of house collapse and great harm to the properties in several different districts.
Meanwhile, CM Yogi Aditya Nath has instructed officials concerned to visit all affected areas and ensure that relief reaches the people who have suffered. Those whose houses have collapsed will get Rs 4 lakh to rebuild their dwellings, Financial assistance will be rendered in case of harm to livestock also. The CM has issued a warning to officials not to show any slackness in rescue and relief work.
