The finance and education minister in the Delhi government Atishi is now slated to be the new Chief Minister of Delhi following the resignation of CM Arvind Kejriwal.
The unanimous decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of legislators by Arvind Kejriwal.
The state convenor Aam Admi Party (AAP) Gopal Rai said Dilip Pandey had proposed Atishi’s name.
Earlier outgoing CM Arvind Kejriwal met Lt Governor Vinay Saxena and handed him over his resignation letter.
After this Atishi staked her claim to form a new government in Delhi.
Arvind Kejriwal expressed his good wishes to Atishi and congratulated her.
On her part Atishi said she was happy but at the same time sad also, because Arvind Kejriwal has resigned. Speaking to the legislators and sending out a message to two crore residents of Delhi Atishi said, Delhi has one Chief Minister and his name is Kejriwal.
