DM Allahabad, Ravindra Kumar Mandar, and Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant convened separate meetings to assess the condition of roads in the city as well as the entire district.
The officials directed the PDA, Nagar Nigam, and other agencies to ensure that roads were made free from potholes before the beginning of the festivals ahead.
Religious processions are taken out on the occasion of the Dussehra festival and as such it was necessary to ensure smoothness of roads without any potholes.
There are several important roads in the city which need immediate repairing.
The condition of some of the roads was so bad that potholes were causing accidents. On their part, the authorities concerned were probably waiting for the monsoon to exit to start the road repair job.
However, despite the rains, they could have at least filled the potholes given the safety of commuters but during this season no such work was undertaken by them.
Meanwhile, the commissioner and the DM have directed the officials concerned to ensure that the roads in the entire district are repaired by October 31.
