Ranvijay Singh, the district court lawyer with several criminal charges has finally been arrested. He was on the run but police traced him to Badalpur area at Noida where he was hiding at a relatives house.
He has been sent to jail on judicial remand on charges of assaulting a couple right before the eyes of civil judge senior division chetna singh while proceedings of cases were going on.
The couple had come to plead their case when the incident occured.
The said lawyer was also a party in the case.
Ranvijay along with few other lawyers had left the judiciary stunned after they attacked the couple.
Such was the scene that shaken by this unruly and condemnable behaviour of these lawyers, the Judge had to take shelter at the chamber of the chief judicial magistrate who called the police.
According to police one Mohd Abrar resident of Buxi Modha, Kareily had also lodged FIR against Ranvijay Singh and his colleagues. The victim had gone to meet his lawyer at his chamber on march 20, 2024 when near the lock up gate Ranvijay Singh, Asif, Mehtab and few others attacked him. The accused beat him up and snatched important case documents along with RS 3000 from him. The accused had also threatened to kill the victim. In this case also police was carrying non bailable warrant against him.
Police had been carrying another remand papers against Ranvijay, Mohd Asif, Aftab and Mehtab following FIR lodged by a lady who has accused them of molesting her and snatching away her belongings.
According to police there were thirteen cases lodged against Ranvijay Singh under various sections under different police stations.
Police is carrying on investigations and law would catch up in due course of time.
Taking serious note of the incident following written complaint by the lady civil judge the Allahabd High Court barred ten lawyers including Ranvijay Singh from legal practice.
Several senior lawyers were happy with the action of the high court as it carries clear warning to practitioners to behave else face the music.
Not willing to be named for several reasons, many among the senior fraternity of lawyers say, there were several groups of errant lawyers activily involved in illegal activities.
If the judicial system is to be cleansed such activities that bring disgrace to our profession and affect the society, need to be stopped altogether.
