Victim of attack lawyer Akhilesh Shukla dies of head injuries: District Court lawyers abstain from work :

Akhilesh Shukla, the lawyer who had sustained grievous injuries in an attack on him by a contractor and his men succumbed to his injuries at the PGI in Lucknow on Thursday.

His body was brought to Allahabad on Friday and the last rites were carried out by the family at the Rasoolabad Ghat.
The district and Sessions Court had a thin attendance as lawyers mourned the unexpected death of one of their colleagues.
Hundreds of lawyers and mourners thronged the residence of the deceased since Friday morning.
The administration and police were on high alert given the gravity of the situation and anger brewing amongst lawyers and the business community in the Salori area where the deceased lived.
The deceased also managed a full-fledged dairy as a business and was popular in his area.
The lawyer was allegedly attacked by a contractor and his men following an argument between them near Gangeshwar Nath Temple in Salori around 10.30 pm on Nov 17.
The 50-year-old lawyer was attacked by lathi, iron rods, and another blunt weapon mostly in the skull that sent him into a state of coma.
A nursing home in the city where he was first taken advised the family to rush him to Lucknow after he failed to regain consciousness.
According to DCP City, police have arrested Nikhil Kant Singh Prince Singh and one Manoj Singh, said to be the supervisor of the contractor.
All three had been booked under attempted murder but now murder charges will be slammed on them.
Sources said the deceased had objected to the rash manner in which the mixture grinder machine was being driven in the area by the ccontractor’sdriver.
An argument on this issue took an ugly turn which resulted in the murderous attack on the lawyer.
According to the FIR Ritesh Shukla has also alleged that after the incident the contractor allegedly rang up his elder brother Devesh Shukla and narrated that he would teach similar lesson to him also.
The deceased lawyer’s younger brother Ritesh Shukla has lodged a case against six persons at the Shivkuti police station. A hunt is on to arrest the remaining persons.
