14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Rewrites T20 History, Inspires Young Cricketers With Record-Smashing Brilliance

The extraordinary rise of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the fearless 14-year-old batting sensation from Bihar, reached astonishing new heights on Wednesday as he hammered his third T20 century, continuing a dream run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025-26 against Maharashtra at Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens.

Opening the innings in just his fifth SMAT appearance since making his T20 debut last year, Vaibhav showcased maturity and power far beyond his age.

He blasted a 58-ball hundred, crushing the Maharashtra bowling attack with seven sixes and seven fours.

Standing unbeaten on 98, he flicked a low full toss over the square-leg boundary to raise yet another landmark in spectacular style.

With this innings, Vaibhav became the first teenager in the world to score three T20 centuries so early in a career.

Previously, only India U-19 teammate Ayush Mhatre and France’s Gustav Mackeon had managed two T20 hundreds before turning 20.

What makes Vaibhav’s achievement even more remarkable is that each of his three centuries has come for different teams across just 16 matches.

Cricket fans were first stunned earlier this year when he smashed a jaw-dropping 35-ball century for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025 — the fastest hundred ever by an Indian in the IPL.

Last month, he dazzled again, scoring a 32-ball hundred for India A against the UAE in the Rising Stars Asia Cup in Qatar.

On Wednesday, with the legendary Chris Gayle’s 175-run record in sight, Vaibhav played another outrageous knock, blazing his way to 144 off just 42 balls before falling in the 13th over.

His innings featured 15 sixes and 11 fours, meaning an incredible 93% of his runs came in boundaries — a feat only three cricketers have ever surpassed in T20 history.

He also became the only player on the planet to score two T20 hundreds in 35 balls or fewer.

An Inspiration to Every Young Dreamer

Vaibhav’s journey is a reminder that:

  • Age is never a limitation
  • Talent becomes great only with courage and hard work
  • Dreams turn real when discipline meets passion

For every young boy or girl stepping onto a cricket field with dreams of wearing the India jersey, Vaibhav’s story shows what belief and commitment can achieve.

He proves that if you dare to dream big and work relentlessly, the world will take notice — no matter how young you are.

The message is simple: Start early, train hard, stay fearless, and greatness will follow.
