15-Year-Old Boy Found Brutally Murdered Near Canal in Phulpur, Prayagraj Investigation Underway
PRAYAGRAJ: Phulpur, Uttar Pradesh: Panic gripped the village of Gulchpa Dhurwa on Wednesday morning when the bloodied body of a missing teenage boy, identified as 15-year-old Mohammad Hasnain, was discovered near a canal.
Hasnain had been reported missing for two days, after leaving home with his two maternal cousins on a motorcycle on the evening of October 13. CCTV footage reportedly confirms the boy’s last movements.
The victim’s mother, Asiya Begum, who resides in Kanouja Khurd village of the Phulpur police jurisdiction, had filed a missing person report at Phulpur police station on Tuesday when Hasnain failed to return home.
The boy, a student of class 8 at the local parishad school, had been living with his mother while his father works as a barber in Pune.
According to sources, the confrontation that may have led to Hasnain’s murder has roots in a long-standing family feud.
Hasnain’s uncle Raju had married the daughter of Saeed Baba, which led to disputes between the families within a few months.
Additionally, about a month ago, Hasnain reportedly had a scuffle with his maternal cousins, Mohammad Junaid and Mohammad Salman, over a personal issue. Police are investigating all angles to piece together the motive behind the murder.
Authorities allege that the boy was brutally beaten with a brick and his head crushed before his body was dumped near the canal.
Blood-stained bricks and a T-shirt were found at the scene, suggesting a violent struggle.
The police have arrested the two cousins, Junaid and Salman, and have begun interrogation to ascertain the full circumstances of the crime.
The discovery of Hasnain’s body left his mother and family devastated. ACP Phoolpur Vivek Yadav and Station House Officer Praveen Kumar reached the site to oversee the recovery and arranged for the body to be sent for postmortem examination.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have assured swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
DCP Ganganagar Kuldeep Singh Gunawat stated that the case is being thoroughly investigated, and further developments will be shared as the inquiry progresses.
