150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Celebrated with Grandeur in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ: A series of events was held across Prayagraj on Friday to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The celebrations took place at the All India Sardar Patel Seva Sansthan’s Kisan Bhawan auditorium, where Ramdular Singh Patel presided.
The event was conducted by Ratan Raj Singh and coordinated by Shyam Sundar Singh Patel and Ghanshyam Singh Patel.
Member of Parliament Praveen Patel graced the ceremony as the chief guest, while former MP Kesari Devi Patel, Dharamraj Singh Patel, Mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani, and MLA Harshvardhan Bajpai attended as special guests.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Praveen Patel praised Sardar Patel’s historic role in uniting 562 princely states to form the modern Indian nation, and highlighted his unparalleled sacrifice in stepping aside from the Prime Ministerial position at Mahatma Gandhi’s request — a true testament to his dedication and patriotism.
Tributes Across Institutions
At the Allahabad Museum, Director Rajesh Prasad offered floral tributes to Patel and administered the National Unity Day pledge to staff members.
Meanwhile, at a joint event organized by the Regional Archives, Prayagraj, and the Department of Medieval & Modern History of Allahabad Degree College, an archival exhibition and folk music program showcased Patel’s contributions. College Principal Prof. Atul Kumar Singh emphasized Patel’s pivotal role in integrating the princely states.
The Apna Dal (S) Legal Forum also celebrated the occasion at the Allahabad High Court premises. Chief guest Abhishek Chaubey hailed Sardar Patel as the true architect of an undivided India.
CORE Celebrations and Awards
In the Central Organization of Railway Electrification (CORE), General Manager Ramendra Kumar Tiwari lit a ceremonial lamp and offered tributes along with senior officers.
He administered the unity pledge and felicitated the winners of essay writing, quiz, walkathon, and drawing competitions held as part of Vigilance Awareness Week. Key officials, including Chief Operating Manager Sharat Chandrayan and Chief Administrative Officer S.S. Neg, were present.
Run for Unity by BJP Leaders
The Bharatiya Janata Party organized a “Run for Unity” starting from Sardar Patel Sansthan in Alopibagh and concluding at Samrat Harshvardh crossing.
Cabinet Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ and BJP city president Sanjay Gupta offered floral tributes before leading the unity run along with party workers.
Minister Nandi stated that Sardar Patel laid the foundation for a strong, united, and self-reliant India, and the nation will always remain indebted to him.
NCR Unity Pledge & Run
At the North Central Railway headquarters, GM Naresh Pal Singh administered the unity oath to officials and staff. NCR Sports Association and RPF organized a unity run beginning from the Sangam Complex.
District Unity Marathon
The district administration and the Regional Sports Office also conducted a unity run from the Amitabh Bachchan Sports Complex to Azad Park. Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani, MLC Surendra Chaudhary, CDO Harshika Singh, and Regional Sports Officer Prem Kumar participated.
