In an effort to reinforce public confidence and reshape perceptions around law enforcement, the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) has instructed police units across the country to actively showcase commendable work and community engagement efforts through digital and traditional media channels.

Operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the BPR&D has introduced a structured monthly reporting template to track and evaluate these outreach activities.

The framework seeks detailed inputs on the promotion of noteworthy policing achievements, collaboration with community influencers, online engagement through official platforms, innovative communication strategies, and any operational challenges requiring support.

Structured Monitoring for Greater Accountability

To ensure consistency and transparency, the new system mandates regular submission of reports documenting how police stations are publicising their achievements.

The move is designed to create a systematic mechanism for reviewing outreach performance and holding units accountable for proactive communication.

The initiative traces its origins to recommendations made at last year’s Directors General and Inspectors General of Police Conference.

During the conference, senior officials underscored the importance of adopting a forward-looking communication strategy to inform citizens about effective policing measures and success stories.

In a recent circular issued by the BPR&D, district-level authorities and police stations have been directed to identify and record instances of impactful service, innovative practices, and constructive engagement with the public.
