Nearly four crores of investors money embezzled at Leelepur branch of the State Bank of India Pratapgarh: High Court orders CBI probe:

The Allahabad High Court ( Lucknow Bench) has ordered a CBI inquiry in a four-crore money scam at the State Bank of India’s Leelepur branch in Pratapgarh district.

This order was passed on the plea of account holders.
Till now the crime branch of Pratapgarh district has been investigating the case.
The bench of Justice Rajan Rai and Justice Om Prakash Shukla issued the orders for CBI inquiry on the plea of Mithilesh Tewari and others.
The scam came to light on March 18, 2024, after one Hanuman Prasad Tewari went to make some inquiries about his fixed deposits.
After this other investors too created a ruckus at the bank.
Alarmed with the situation the branch manager Shikhar Agrawal lodged an FIR against the former bank manager Jaynath Saroj and two others.
However, feeling dissatisfied with the investigation of the crime branch, Mithilesh, Mohd Ashfaq, Vijay Pathak, Vijay Tewari, Purnendu Tewari, Kamlesh Tewari, and several other investors filed a petition.
The High Court has directed SP Pratapgarh to file an affidavit in this case.
Advocate Nanvendra Singh while pleading on behalf if the applicants prayed that at first glance it appears to be a case of embezzlement in which the hand of several bank employees cannot be denied.
The Court after seeing the gravity of the situation ordered a CBI probe.
