In a remarkable and perilous feat, a 13-year-old boy from Kunduz, Afghanistan, embarked on a high-risk journey to Delhi by concealing himself in the landing gear compartment of a Kam Air flight.

The incident unfolded on Sunday morning when flight RQ-4401, traveling from Kabul to Delhi, landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Upon arrival, airport personnel discovered the boy walking near the aircraft and promptly detained him for questioning.

The teenager, identified as a resident of Kunduz, revealed that he had sneaked into Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport, hidden among passengers, and managed to climb into the rear central landing gear compartment of the aircraft.

He stated that his motive was driven by curiosity, not realizing the grave dangers associated with such an endeavor.

Remarkably, the boy survived the approximately 94-minute flight, which reached altitudes of up to 35,000 feet, exposing him to extreme cold and low oxygen levels.

Upon discovery, he was immediately taken into custody by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and later repatriated to Afghanistan on the same flight that day.

This incident has raised significant concerns regarding airport security protocols and the lengths to which individuals may go to escape challenging circumstances.

It also highlights the dire situations faced by many in conflict zones, leading them to undertake life-threatening journeys in search of safety and a better future.
