Akhilesh Yadav Accuses BJP of “Fake Encounters,” Caste Bias, and Ruining Law and Order in Uttar Pradesh
LUCKNOW— Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday launched a blistering attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh, accusing it of indulging in “fake encounters,” rampant caste-based discrimination in police postings, and failing miserably to uphold law and order in the state.
Addressing a gathering of SP leaders and workers from various districts at the party headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav said the government’s claims of improved policing were hollow and built on a foundation of fear and injustice.
Law and order cannot be strengthened by carrying out fake encounters,” Yadav asserted. “It improves only when competent and impartial officers are appointed on merit.
But this BJP government promotes individuals based on caste loyalty rather than ability.
When appointments are made to favor their own people, how can justice and security prevail?”
The SP chief alleged that under BJP rule, crime against women, Dalits, and the poor has skyrocketed, turning the state into what he described as a “lawless jungle.”
He said incidents of rape, murder, and loot have become daily occurrences, while the police and administration turn a blind eye due to political interference.
“BJP Has Destroyed Women’s Safety Initiatives”
Yadav reminded the gathering of the ‘1090 Women Power Line’ — an initiative launched by his previous government to ensure women’s safety.
“That helpline, which was appreciated even by the Supreme Court, was completely dismantled and neglected by the BJP government,” he said.
He accused the ruling party of spreading hatred, deepening social divides, and nurturing criminal syndicates that enjoy political protection.
“The BJP thrives on creating divisions — they pit caste against caste, community against community,” he said. “Under their rule, there is a dangerous nexus between criminals and the administration.”
Yadav further alleged that law and order, health, and education — the three pillars of governance — have completely collapsed.
“Caste-based persecution and discrimination are at their peak,” he said, branding the BJP as “the most casteist political organization in the country.”
“CM Responsible for Destroying Rivers and Environment”
Turning his ire towards Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Yadav blamed him for the poor condition of rivers in Uttar Pradesh, particularly the Gomti River, once a showcase project under the SP regime.
The Chief Minister himself is responsible for the pathetic state of the Gomti and other rivers,” Yadav said. “Our government built a beautiful riverfront and implemented a proper cleaning system.
The BJP government ruined everything. Now, when their time is almost over, they are pretending to clean it again.”
He said the BJP government’s negligence has not only polluted the state’s environment but also symbolized the decay of governance.
“Healthcare System Collapsing Under BJP Rule”
The SP chief also criticized the state’s healthcare crisis, accusing the government of failing to provide adequate hospitals, doctors, and medicines for the poor.
“There is a massive shortage of doctors and hospital beds across the state. Government hospitals no longer provide free or quality treatment. The poor are forced to go to private hospitals where they are exploited,” Yadav said.
He contrasted this with his government’s tenure, claiming that during the Samajwadi Party rule, treatment and medicines were free for the underprivileged.
“In our upcoming government, we will ensure free treatment for the poor and provide electric wheelchairs for persons with disabilities,” he pledged.
“BJP Must Go for People’s Welfare to Return”
Concluding his address, Yadav said justice and progress were impossible as long as the BJP remained in power.
As long as this government stays, no one — whether a woman, a farmer, or a Dalit — will get justice. For the sake of Uttar Pradesh’s future, it is crucial to remove the BJP from power.
Only then can true development and welfare return to the people,” he said, drawing loud applause from party workers.
