Allahabad High Court to Continue Hearing on Bail Plea of Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan in Bareilly Violence Case

By Rajesh Pandey

The bail application of Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan and several others accused in last year’s Bareilly violence case will continue to be heard on Friday before the Allahabad High Court. The matter is currently being considered by Justice Ashutosh Srivastava.

Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan has been lodged in jail since October 13, 2025, in connection with the violent incidents that took place in Bareilly in September 2025.

His bail plea, along with those of several other accused persons, is under judicial scrutiny before the High Court.

According to the prosecution and the police version of events, the incident dates back to September 26, 2025, when Maulana Tauqeer Raza allegedly called upon members of a particular community to assemble at Islamiya Inter College in Bareilly.

At the time, prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) were already in force in the area.

Despite the restrictions, approximately 500 people reportedly gathered and began moving in a procession from Maulana Azad Inter College towards Shyamganj Chauraha.

The crowd was allegedly carrying placards and raising provocative slogans while marching through the area.

Police officials present at the spot attempted to persuade the gathering to disperse, repeatedly warning them about the prohibitory orders in place.

However, according to the FIR, the crowd ignored the warnings and continued to advance.

The situation soon escalated as the group allegedly turned aggressive and insisted on proceeding further.

The police have alleged that members of the crowd began pelting stones and brickbats at security personnel.

The FIR further claims that acid bottles were thrown and gunshots were fired from within the crowd towards the police force deployed at the site.

During the course of the violence, two police officers reportedly sustained injuries, and the uniforms of several personnel were torn amid the scuffle.

Authorities stated that the aggressive actions of the mob created an atmosphere of panic and fear in the locality.

After attempts to control the situation through dialogue and persuasion failed, the police were allegedly compelled to open fire in self-defence to disperse the crowd and restore order in the area.

The High Court will resume hearing the bail applications in the case on Friday.
