Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a strong attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Sunday, criticizing the previous Lalu Prasad Yadav-Rabri Devi government for allegedly pushing Bihar into an era of lawlessness and corruption. Speaking at an event in Patna, Shah accused the RJD of presiding over rampant crime, corruption, and economic stagnation, referring to it as ‘jungle raj. ’

During his visit, Shah also unveiled several developmental projects and laid foundation stones for infrastructure and welfare schemes worth over Rs 800 crore. These projects include funding for policing, cooperative development, urban housing, and road transport—sectors that Shah claimed had suffered severe neglect under the previous RJD-led governments.

As part of his official engagements in Bihar, Shah announced several key developmental initiatives, including:

  • Rs 111 crore for cooperative sector schemes, aimed at strengthening primary agriculture cooperatives and rural financial institutions.
  • Rs 421 crore allocated for urban development and housing projects, focusing on improving infrastructure, sanitation, and residential facilities in Bihar’s growing urban areas.
  • 133 new police buildings, including police stations and training centers, being constructed for Rs 181 crore, to boost law enforcement and improve security across the state.
  • Three major transport and highway projects, collectively worth Rs 109 crore, to enhance connectivity and ease of transportation within Bihar.

These investments, Shah said, reflect the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s commitment to the development of Bihar, contrasting it with the alleged failure of the previous Lalu-Rabri administration.

During his speech, Shah launched a blistering attack on RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, accusing him of doing nothing to strengthen Bihar’s economy and allowing the state to be crippled by corruption and misgovernance.

Shah alleged that several sugar mills in Bihar were forced to shut down during Lalu’s tenure, which led to economic decline in rural areas and an increase in unemployment.

“The Lalu-Rabri government will always be remembered for fostering a lawless environment in Bihar,” Shah said, further claiming that their rule was marked by “murders, kidnappings, scams, and overall criminal activities.”

He warned that the people of Bihar do not want to return to the era of gang wars and abductions, asserting that the NDA government would once again secure a massive victory in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

Taking a direct swipe at the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, Shah claimed that Bihar was neglected when the Sonia Gandhi-Manmohan Singh administration was in power at the Center.

He presented a financial comparison to support his claims:

  • During the UPA rule, Bihar received only Rs 2.80 lakh crore in financial assistance from the Center.
  • Under the NDA government, Bihar has received Rs 9.23 lakh crore, a three-fold increase, aimed at transforming the state’s infrastructure, economy, and overall development.

“This proves that while the NDA has prioritized Bihar’s progress, the previous Congress-RJD governments did nothing for the state except indulging in scandals and mismanagement,” Shah remarke

As part of his visit, Shah remotely inaugurated a makhana (fox nut) processing unit at the Fishermen’s Cooperative Society in the Darbhanga district. This initiative, he explained, will empower local farmers and fishermen by boosting productivity and increasing exports of the region’s famous makhana products.

In addition, he distributed micro ATMs to ‘bank mitras’ (banking correspondents) of the Bihar State Cooperative Bank, highlighting the NDA government’s push for financial inclusion and digital banking penetration in rural areas.

The event was attended by several prominent leaders, including:

  • Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar
  • Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha
  • Union and State Ministers
  • Senior government officials

Later, at a rally in Gopalganj, Shah escalated his attacks on RJD’s governance, describing Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as riddled with financial scams and self-serving policies.

Shah pointed to a series of scandals under Lalu’s leadership, including:

  • The bitumen scam
  • The flood relief scam
  • The Charwaha Vidyalaya (Cattle Grazers’ School) scam
  • The infamous fodder scam, for which Lalu was convicted

“These are the people who looted money meant for cattle fodder,” Shah said, adding that such leaders can never be trusted to work for Bihar’s welfare.

He further alleged that instead of focusing on developing the state, Lalu and his party had always been preoccupied with promoting their own family’s interests.

Shah ended his address by reaffirming the NDA government’s commitment to Bihar’s progress, urging people to support BJP and its allies in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

“The NDA has been working tirelessly for Bihar’s development—be it infrastructure, law enforcement, rural economy, or urban housing,” he stated.

With the Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for later this year, Shah’s visit and fiery remarks signal the BJP’s aggressive campaign strategy, aiming to consolidate voter support and counter the RJD’s influence in the state.

As political temperatures rise, Bihar is set for a fierce electoral battle, with NDA and RJD-led alliances gearing up for a crucial fight over governance, development, and the state’s future direction.
