The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has launched a coordinated series of raids across multiple districts in the Kashmir Valley on Monday, as part of its deepening investigation into the devastating car-bomb explosion outside Delhi’s Red Fort last month.
The operation — involving searches at eight to ten locations — aims to uncover fresh evidence and dismantle the broader terror network behind the blast.
According to official sources, early Monday morning, NIA teams fanned out across South Kashmir, targeting homes of suspects already in custody.
Among those whose residences were searched: Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather in Kulgam, Dr Muzamil Shakeel Ganai in Pulwama’s Koil village, cleric Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay in Shopian, and Amir Rashid at Samboora village in Pulwama.
These raids form part of the ongoing probe into the terror module linked to the blast — a network allegedly involving doctors and radical operatives.
Earlier, police had seized a large cache of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, from suspects’ hideouts and arrested several individuals.
In recent days, NIA’s crackdown expanded beyond Kashmir — raids were conducted at locations in Uttar Pradesh as well, including the home of another accused doctor in Lucknow, highlighting the wide geographic spread of the network.
With every new round of searches and arrests, the investigation appears to be unraveling a much larger and more organised terror plot than initially believed.
Officials say the current raids are crucial to “unravel the conspiracy” and recover any material or digital evidence that connects local operatives to the Delhi blast.
