Terrorist Plot to Attack Ayodhya’s Ram Temple Foiled by Gujarat ATS and Haryana STF

In a significant counter-terrorism operation, security forces successfully thwarted a potential attack on the revered Ram Temple in Ayodhya with the arrest of two terrorists. The suspects, who were captured in a joint operation by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Haryana Special Task Force (STF) on Sunday, had meticulously planned to target the temple, intending to carry out a devastating explosion using hand grenades.

The arrested individuals, including Abdul Rahman, were found to have direct links with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, which was allegedly orchestrating the attack from across the border. Intelligence sources revealed that ISI handlers were in direct contact with Rahman, using him as a key operative to execute the plan.

Rahman’s Background and Role in the Conspiracy

Investigations have unearthed Rahman’s connections with multiple extremist groups, suggesting that he had been radicalized and recruited into terrorist activities long before his arrest. He had been leading a normal life in Faizabad, running a mutton shop while also working as an auto driver to avoid suspicion. However, beneath this façade, he was involved in covert reconnaissance missions and coordination with extremist elements, all aimed at carrying out an act of terror at one of India’s most sacred religious sites.

Sources indicate that Rahman had conducted multiple reconnaissance visits to Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, carefully studying security arrangements, entry and exit points, congregation patterns, and potential weak spots. He secretly shared all this vital information with ISI operatives, who were overseeing the execution of the attack from Pakistan.

The Plan: Hand Grenades to be Used for Devastation

According to intelligence reports, Rahman was tasked with carrying out an attack using hand grenades, which were supposed to be delivered to him by an unidentified handler. The plot involved creating massive destruction at the temple premises, leading to casualties, panic, and communal unrest. The attack was planned with meticulous precision, ensuring that the maximum number of devotees and security personnel would be affected.

The first phase of the plot involved Rahman traveling from Faizabad to Faridabad by train, where he was expected to receive the explosive devices. Upon reaching Faridabad, a terror network contact handed over the grenades, which he was supposed to transport back to Ayodhya and execute the attack.

However, before the terrorists could proceed further, Indian intelligence agencies picked up crucial leads about their activities. Acting on this vital intelligence input, a joint operation was swiftly launched by the Gujarat ATS and Haryana STF, leading to the timely interception and arrest of Rahman and his accomplice.

Discovery of Hidden Weapons in Pali

During interrogation, Rahman confessed to storing additional weapons and explosives at a secret hideout in Pali, Faridabad. Acting immediately on this intelligence, a joint team of Gujarat ATS and Faridabad police conducted an extensive search of the identified abandoned house.

The security personnel cordoned off the area to prevent any civilian movement in and out while they carried out a thorough search operation. The intense four-hour operation, conducted on Sunday evening, resulted in the discovery and seizure of two live hand grenades, which were meant to be used in the planned attack.

Security Alert and Further Investigations

The arrest of Rahman and his associate is being considered a major victory for Indian security forces, as it has prevented a catastrophic terror attack that could have resulted in the loss of innocent lives.

Further investigations are currently underway to trace the larger network behind this plot. Authorities are now working to:

  • Identify other possible accomplices who may have provided logistical support to Rahman.
  • Investigate communication records between Rahman and ISI operatives to understand the extent of foreign involvement.
  • Determine whether more explosives or weapons are hidden in other locations.
  • Assess the financial and logistical support channels used to fund and facilitate the operation.

Meanwhile, security agencies have stepped up surveillance around Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, ensuring heightened vigilance to prevent any further threats.

A Major Success in Counter-Terrorism Efforts

The successful prevention of this planned attack has once again highlighted India’s robust intelligence and counter-terrorism capabilities. The joint efforts of the Gujarat ATS, Haryana STF, and other security agencies played a pivotal role in neutralizing a serious terror threat and ensuring the safety of millions of devotees who visit the temple.

The prompt action and coordinated response have not only averted a major disaster but also sent a strong message to terror outfits that any attempt to disrupt peace and security in India will be met with swift and decisive action.

With investigations ongoing, security forces remain on high alert, ensuring that no element of this terror network remains unchecked.
