Balrampur: Bus and Truck Burst Into Flames After Collision, Three Dead, 24 Injured

In another major accident, a private bus carrying Nepalese passengers collided with a truck on Monday night at Phulwaria Bypass intersection in Balrampur, turning both vehicles into fireballs after impact.

The bus, bearing registration number UP 22 AT 0245, was travelling from Butwal district in Nepal to Delhi. Upon reaching the bypass, it collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction.

The truck overturned while the bus rammed into an electric pole. The pole snapped, causing high-tension wires to fall on the bus, which immediately caught fire.

Two Nepalese passengers were burnt alive inside the bus, while the truck cleaner died after being crushed under the overturned vehicle.

A total of 24 passengers sustained injuries, out of which six are in critical condition. Five of them have been referred to Bahraich Medical College, and one to Lucknow Trauma Center.

One deceased victim has been identified as Radha (60), wife of Lal Bahadur, resident of Gulmi, Nepal, while the identities of the other two are yet to be confirmed.

Traffic on the highway was halted for several hours after the incident. The district administration later restored movement and initiated an investigation.

The District Magistrate informed that a five-member inquiry committee has been constituted and appropriate action will be taken based on its report.
