Yogi Adityanath Highlights Transformation of Uttar Pradesh: From Crime-Hit State to National Model of Development and Industrial Growth

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while addressing the 36th Foundation Day celebration of the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA), asserted that the state’s remarkable progress in law and order and industrial development is the outcome of a positive governance vision and strict zero-tolerance policy against crime.

Speaking at the event, he emphasised that “zero tolerance towards crime is not just a slogan but a working spirit”, and its firm implementation has turned a once crime-ridden Uttar Pradesh into a model state.

“A secure environment has been created where mafia dominance, hooliganism, and extortion no longer hold ground,” he said.

Key Milestones in Development and Industrial Growth

The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 114 infrastructure projects worth ₹408 crore across multiple sectors under GIDA.

He also distributed plot allocation certificates to five investors, part of the 115 industrial plots allotted for investments worth ₹6,139 crore.

Among them was Gita Press, globally known for preserving and promoting Sanatan literature, which received an allotment letter for 10 acres of land.

Adityanath also inaugurated the three-day Uttar Pradesh State Trade Show during the event.

Industrial Expansion in Eastern UP

Highlighting the transformation of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, he noted that the region suffered decades of neglect and industrial decline.

“Earlier, industries were shutting down, and investment opportunities were destroyed by mafia activities.

Today, leading companies from India and abroad are investing in Gorakhpur and Eastern UP,” he said.

Under the current government:

  • Around 500 industrial units have been set up in GIDA in eight years
  • Investments exceeding ₹11,618 crore have created nearly 40,000 direct jobs
  • Major investors include PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, Campa, Reliance Group, India Auto Wheels, CP Milk and Foods, Tatva Plastic, Kayam Industry, and many others.

Statewide, following the BJP government’s tenure, Uttar Pradesh has received investment proposals worth ₹45 lakh crore, with ₹15 lakh crore already realised, generating employment for 1.5 crore youth.

Additional investment proposals of ₹5 lakh crore are expected to be implemented in December alone.

Infrastructure and Economic Advancement

Adityanath highlighted that Uttar Pradesh is now emerging as India’s fastest-growing economy, supported by major infrastructure achievements: The nation’s

  • s largest railway network
  • India’s first rapid rail corridor
  • First inland waterway
  • Most metro cities and airports in Indian states
  • 16 operational airports, including four international
  • Jewar International Airport, the country’s largest, is set to be inaugurated soon by PM Narendra Modi.
Cultural Rejuvenation and National Pride

Referring to PM Narendra Modi’s role in the revival of cultural identity, the Chief Minister mentioned the recent installation of the “Dharma Dhwaja” in Ayodhya on November 25.

He said, “From the Bhoomi Pujan in August 2020 to the Pran Pratishtha in January 2024 and now the Dharma Dhwaja installation, the nation has witnessed honour and resurgence of its spiritual heritage.”

Vision for the Future

CM Yogi stressed that UP’s development model is rooted in the rule of law, transparency, security, and industrial progress, which together have created confidence among global investors and opened opportunities for the youth.
