ANASUYA SENGUPTA FIRST INDIAN TO WIN BEST ACTRESS AT CANNES

Anasuya Sengupta made history on May 24 by winning the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival’s closing ceremony. She bagged the prize in the Un Certain Regard section for her role in Bulgarian filmmaker Konstantin Bojanov’s The Shameless, in which she plays a sex worker who flees a Delhi brothel after murdering a policeman.

 

Settled in Goa, Anasuya is a successful art director and has worked in feature films like Sanjeev Sharma’s Saat Uchakkey, Anjan Dutt’s Bengali film, Madly Bangalee, and Srijit Mukherji’s Forget Me Not.
