New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday announced the results of the Civil Services Examination 2025, one of India’s most demanding competitive examinations.

Anuj Agnihotri emerged as the national topper, securing the first rank in the prestigious examination.

The second position was secured by Rajeshwari Suve M, while Akansh Dhull claimed the third rank.

According to the official announcement, 958 candidates have successfully cleared the examination and have been recommended for appointment to several central government services.

Recruitment for Elite Civil Services

The Civil Services Examination is conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission to select officers for some of the country’s most influential administrative positions.

Successful candidates are inducted into services such as the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, and Indian Police Service, along with several other Group A and Group B central services.

The recruitment process is carried out in three rigorous phases—the preliminary examination, the mains examination and the personality test or interview.

This year, the Central Government had notified 1,087 vacancies across different services through the civil services examination.

Provisional Candidates

The Commission also clarified that the candidature of 348 recommended candidates remains provisional, pending verification of documents and other formalities.

Candidates who appeared in the examination can access further information and clarifications through the UPSC facilitation counter located on the Commission’s campus.

Assistance is available on working days between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., either in person or via telephone.

The Commission added that the individual marks of candidates will be uploaded on the official website within fifteen days of the result announcement.

A Dream for Millions, Achieved by Few.

Every year, the UPSC Civil Services Examination draws lakhs of aspirants from across India, making it one of the most competitive examinations in the world.

Young graduates from cities, towns and remote villages spend years preparing for the exam, studying late into the night with hopes of entering the country’s top administrative services.

Yet the path to success is exceptionally demanding. Out of the enormous number of candidates who apply and appear for the preliminary examination, only a small fraction manage to progress through the subsequent stages.

In the end, only a handful of determined and exceptionally prepared candidates make it to the final list.

For those who succeed, the reward is not merely a prestigious career but the opportunity to serve the nation in key administrative, diplomatic and law-enforcement roles.

The announcement of the UPSC results, therefore, marks not just the success of individual candidates but also the culmination of years of perseverance, sacrifice and relentless dedication.
