Lucknow: Students enrolled in universities and degree colleges across Uttar Pradesh will now be provided with apprenticeship opportunities. Soon, students pursuing Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) courses will be able to join various industries as apprentices, where they will receive a monthly honorarium of ₹9,000. Preparations are underway to begin registration shortly under the Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Scheme.

The Department of Higher Education has allocated a budget of ₹100 crore for the initiative. Following the model already in place in engineering colleges, this scheme will now extend apprenticeship opportunities to students of general undergraduate courses such as BA, B.Sc., and B.Com in universities and degree colleges.

The facility will be rolled out soon for students. Of the ₹9,000 monthly stipend, ₹4,500 will be provided by the Central Government, ₹3,500 by the industry, and ₹1,000 by the State Government. To further encourage participation in this scheme, the State Government will contribute ₹1,000 on behalf of industries out of their ₹4,500 share.

According to Dr. Maulindu Mishra, the State President of the Uttar Pradesh Teachers’ Association, this initiative will prove to be a milestone in helping students secure employment in the future.
