Balrampur Tragedy: 11-Year-Old Girl Dies After Monkey Attack Pushes Her Off Roof in Gauramafi Village Near Sohailwa Forest

A tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur district has left an entire village in grief after an 11-year-old girl lost her life following a langur attack.

The incident occurred in Gauramafi village, located near the Barhawa range of the Sohailwa forest area under the Harraiya police station limits.

According to local sources, the victim, identified as Shubhi, daughter of Ashok, was playing on the rooftop of her house along with other children when a langur suddenly appeared.

Witnesses said the animal became aggressive upon noticing the children and attacked the girl. In the course of the attack, the langur allegedly pushed the child off the roof, causing her to fall to the ground below.

The fall resulted in critical injuries. Family members and residents rushed the severely injured girl to the Joint District Hospital in Balrampur.

After initial examination, doctors referred her to the Bahraich Medical College due to the seriousness of her condition. However, Shubhi succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital.

The untimely death of the young girl has plunged the family into deep sorrow and shock.

According to her father, Ashok, Shubhi was the fourth among seven siblings. The grieving family performed her last rites without a post-mortem examination.

The incident has triggered anger and concern among villagers, who say that the menace of monkeys and langurs has increased significantly in areas adjoining the Sohailwa forest.

Residents allege that repeated complaints about aggressive monkeys entering residential areas have not been adequately addressed, putting the safety of children and elderly residents at risk.

Following the incident, villagers have demanded immediate action from forest and local administration authorities to control the growing threat posed by wild animals straying into human settlements.

The tragedy has once again highlighted the urgent need for effective wildlife management measures in forest-adjacent rural areas to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
