Bhagam Bhag 2 Announced: Akshay Kumar Returns, Manoj Bajpayee Joins Cast as Paresh Rawal Takes on Double Role
The madness is set to return — but with a fresh twist. Bhagam Bhag is officially getting a sequel, and Bhagam Bhag 2 promises a new on-screen dynamic.
While Akshay Kumar reprises his role from the 2006 comedy hit, Manoj Bajpayee will step into the franchise this time, effectively replacing Govinda in the lead ensemble.
The update was confirmed by Paresh Rawal, who is also returning — and with a surprise of his own.
A New Comic Equation
Speaking about the revamped casting, Paresh Rawal shared that the pairing of Akshay Kumar and Manoj Bajpayee will bring a fresh flavour to the sequel.
He described it as a “different and unique combination,” while candidly admitting that Govinda’s absence will certainly be felt.
When asked about the reason behind Govinda not being part of the film, Paresh stated that he genuinely has no clarity on the matter.
Paresh Rawal’s Double Role After Two Decades
Adding to the excitement, Paresh Rawal revealed that he will be seen in a double role in Bhagam Bhag 2. Brimming with enthusiasm, he said the film will be full of fun and chaos.
This marks his return to playing dual characters after more than twenty years. He was last seen in a double role in Chor Machaaye Shor and later portrayed a triple role in Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!.
Direction and New Additions
The sequel will be helmed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, known for directing Dream Girl. The project will also introduce Meenakshi Chaudhary to Hindi cinema, marking her Bollywood debut.
Although there had been earlier rumours suggesting that Akshaye Khanna might join the cast, those reports were never officially confirmed and eventually faded.
The film has already gone on floors this year and is expected to hit theatres next year.
What Could Bhagam Bhag 2 Be About?
While the makers are keeping the storyline under wraps, sources suggest that the sequel will retain the franchise’s trademark confusion-driven humour.
Much like the original, which revolved around theatre artistes caught in a web of mistaken identities, murder accusations and international chaos, the sequel is likely to build on high-energy chases, comic misunderstandings and layered deception.
With Manoj Bajpayee joining the mix — an actor known for his intense performances — audiences can expect a contrast-driven comedy where serious undertones collide with absurd situations.
Paresh Rawal’s double role may further complicate the narrative, potentially involving lookalikes, swapped identities or parallel tracks that intersect in classic slapstick fashion.
The original Bhagam Bhag, directed by Priyadarshan, became a cult comedy over the years, thanks to its fast-paced humour and iconic performances. Now, with a reworked cast and a new creative vision, the sequel aims to revive that chaos for a new generation of viewers.
Whether this fresh trio can recreate the magic of the original remains to be seen — but one thing is certain: the run-and-chase comedy is back on track.
