Big stride : India ships Air weapon system battery to Armenia: Capable of targeting fighter jets, cruise and air to surface missiles, drones
In a leap forward India has shipped to Armenia the first Akash weapon system battery making it the second missile system exported by India.
The Defence Research and Development Organization has developed it, the Akash system is a surface-to-air missile (SAM) capable of targeting fighter jets, cruise and air-to-surface missiles, drones, and other aerial threats within a range of 25 km.
Produced by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), each Akash weapon system battery includes a Rajendra 3D passive electronically scanned array radar and four launchers, each equipped with three interlinked missiles.
