Bill Gates Meets Andhra Leadership to Explore AI, Health and Governance Partnerships

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates landed in Andhra Pradesh on Monday to hold discussions with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on expanding collaboration in areas such as public health and artificial intelligence-driven administration.

The arrival was announced on social media by state IT Minister and Telugu Desam Party general secretary Nara Lokesh, who welcomed Gates at Gannavaram Airport before accompanying him to the Secretariat in Amaravati.

In a message welcoming the philanthropist and head of the Gates Foundation, the state leadership expressed interest in strengthening joint initiatives across healthcare, agriculture, education and technology-enabled governance.

Naidu said the state hopes to work closely with the foundation to develop scalable solutions benefiting citizens.

During his visit, Gates is scheduled to meet the chief minister, Nara Lokesh and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana indicated that talks would particularly focus on enhancing ongoing health programmes and examining how AI can improve the delivery of government services.

The foundation already supports several health projects in the state, and both sides are expected to consider expanding their reach.

Gates will also tour the Real Time Governance System (RTGS) centre to understand how digital tools are being integrated into administration.

Naidu plans to present his long-term “Swarna Andhra 2047” roadmap, which includes proposals in medical technology, diagnostics and the Sanjeevani digital health records initiative.

The delegation will additionally visit an agricultural facility in Undavalli village to observe drone-assisted and AI-based farming practices.

The trip follows earlier engagements between the state government and the Gates Foundation aimed at deepening cooperation on development and technology initiatives.
