Caste, Sectarian Division a Path to National Ruin: Yogi Adityanath Warns, Invokes Bangladesh as a Stark Lesson

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday delivered a strong and wide-ranging address, cautioning that voting along caste lines and divisions created based on sectarian identity could push India towards destruction—much like what, he said, is unfolding in Bangladesh today.

Speaking with urgency and conviction, the Chief Minister said it was the collective responsibility of society to ensure that forces which divide and fracture the nation are never allowed to grow.

“Those who weaken society must not be permitted to advance under any circumstances,” he asserted.

He added that if the country moves forward with this shared resolve, the future unmistakably belongs to Sanatan Dharma.

Drawing a global parallel, he said that just as the flag of Sanatan values now flies high from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, the echo of Sanatan will be heard across the world.

“That day,” he said, “no one will dare to harm an innocent, weak, or Dalit Hindu—whether in Bangladesh or anywhere else.”

The Chief Minister was addressing a large gathering at the Magh Mela, at the camp of Jagatguru Santosh Das, popularly known as Satua Baba, on the occasion of the 726th Prakatya Utsav (appearance day) of Jagatguru Ramanandacharya.

Referring directly to developments in Bangladesh, Yogi Adityanath said that what is happening there is met with an alarming silence.

He took a sharp swipe at self-styled custodians of secularism, alleging that those who run their “shops” by systematically weakening Hindu society and Sanatan Dharma have completely shut their mouths on the Bangladesh issue.

“It appears as if someone has glued their mouths shut with Fevicol, or taped them closed,” he remarked caustically.

He pointed out that no candle marches are being organised over the incidents in Bangladesh, calling this silence not just hypocrisy but a warning sign for India as well.

The Chief Minister went on to underline the unifying role played by India’s saintly tradition.

He said the Sant Samaj continuously works to bind society together, and when saints come together on a single platform to give a collective call, the results inevitably follow.

As a prime example, he cited the construction of the grand Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, calling it the outcome of the spiritual resolve, penance, and unity of revered saints.

He noted that this long-cherished aspiration was ultimately given concrete shape by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Reflecting on India’s post-Independence journey, Yogi Adityanath said the country has had many prime ministers, each of whom would have thought about the nation and contributed to its development in their own way.

However, he emphasised that India’s foundational soul—its civilisational and spiritual essence—also deserved recognition and respect.

By restoring Ram Lalla to His rightful place in Ayodhya, the Chief Minister said, Prime Minister Modi transformed a deeply held national sentiment into reality and, in doing so, honoured India’s ancient traditions.

From the foundation stone-laying ceremony to hoisting the religious flag, the Prime Minister’s presence, he added, sent a powerful message to the world: meaningful change requires unwavering willpower and commitment.

The ceremony was attended by Uttar Pradesh’s in-charge minister, Swatantra Dev Singh, Cabinet Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, former MP Dr Rita Bahuguna Joshi, former MP Vinod Sonkar, former Cabinet Minister Siddharth Nath Singh, MLA Deepak Patel, MLA Harshvardhan Bajpai, and Mahant Balbir Giri, among several other prominent leaders and religious figures.
