PRAYAGRAJ : Tensions erupted at the KPUC hostel late Tuesday night when two groups of students clashed over room allocations, creating panic among residents.
Reports of students hurling bombs at each other added to the initial confusion, prompting a swift response from the authorities.
Police forces arrived on the scene to control the situation and ensure the safety of all hostel occupants.
The confrontation stemmed from disputes over room occupancy. One group, consisting of senior students who were already residing in the hostel, refused to vacate their rooms.
Meanwhile, another group of newly admitted students sought to occupy the rooms but had not yet completed the official hostel allotment process.
On Wednesday, university officials, accompanied by police personnel, visited the hostel to address the ongoing issues.
‘Professor Rakesh Singh, Chief Proctor of the university, clarified that one group of students is no longer enrolled at the university, while the other consists of current students who had not finalized their hostel allocation.
He emphasized that legitimate students must deposit hostel fees and complete the room allotment procedure, after which legal action can be pursued for any complaints.
ACP Karnalganj, Rajeev Yadav, stated that the dispute among the students had been resolved and denied reports of bomb-throwing. Authorities continue to monitor the situation to prevent further conflicts and ensure a safe environment for all students.
Professor Rakesh Singh reiterated the importance of following proper administrative procedures for hostel accommodation and urged students to cooperate to maintain order.
