CM Yogi Adityanath Visits Shakambhari Siddhpeeth in Saharanpur, Reviews ₹100-Crore Development Projects and Chaitra Navratri Mela Preparations
Saharanpur/Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday visited the revered Siddhpeeth Maa Shakambhari Devi Temple in Saharanpur, where he offered prayers and reviewed ongoing development works in the Shakambhari tourism zone.
During the visit, the Chief Minister conducted a detailed inspection of several infrastructure projects worth nearly ₹100 crore being executed in the temple area and directed officials to ensure that all works are completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high-quality standards.
The Chief Minister arrived in Saharanpur in the afternoon. His helicopter landed at the Nagalmāfi village helipad at around 3:40 pm, from where he proceeded directly to the Shakambhari Siddhpeeth area to assess the progress of various development initiatives.
Inspection of Development Projects
During his visit, Yogi Adityanath inspected multiple construction and infrastructure projects aimed at improving facilities for pilgrims and boosting tourism in the region.
While reviewing the progress, he sought detailed updates from officials regarding each project and emphasised the need for timely completion with uncompromised quality.
A review meeting with administrative officials and public representatives was held at a building under construction near the District Panchayat gate, where the authorities presented a progress report on the ongoing works.
According to officials, the progress of major projects is as follows:
- Tourist Facilitation Centre: Approximately 65% completed
- Open Air Theatre: About 70% completed
- Multi-Level Car Parking: Around 30% completed
- Toilet Blocks and Public Souvenir Shop: Nearly complete
- Shakambhari Devi Padyatra Route Strengthening: 85% completed
- Shakambhari Dwar Complex: 70% completed
- Signage Installation Work: Around 25% completed
The Chief Minister instructed officials to accelerate the pace of work so that devotees visiting the temple can benefit from improved facilities, especially during major religious gatherings.
Review of Chaitra Navratri Mela Arrangements
During the visit, the Chief Minister also reviewed preparations for the Chaitra Navratri Mela, which is scheduled to begin on March 19.
He directed authorities to ensure that all arrangements related to security, traffic management, sanitation, drinking water, electricity supply and basic facilities for pilgrims are completed well before the start of the fair.
Officials were also instructed to maintain strict cleanliness across the fair area, ensure adequate toilet facilities for men and women, and regulate parking charges for visitors.
The mela premises will be kept under surveillance with security arrangements, including CCTV monitoring and deployment of Anti-Romeo squads and volunteers to assist pilgrims.s
The Chief Minister emphasised that Shakambhari Dham is one of the most important religious centres of Uttar Pradesh, and the state government is committed to providing better infrastructure and facilities to the thousands of devotees who visit the shrine every year.
After the review meeting, Yogi Adityanath visited the temple premises and offered traditional prayers and rituals to Maa Shakambhari Devi, praying for the peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of the state. Following the temple visit, he departed from Saharanpur for Lucknow at around 5 pm.
Special Focus on Women’s Safety
The Chief Minister placed particular emphasis on ensuring the safety of women devotees arriving from different parts of the state and country. He directed officials to deploy Anti-Romeo squads and a sufficient number of women police personnel in the mela area.
Authorities were also instructed to make proper accommodation and logistical arrangements for female police officers posted for duty during the fair to ensure effective security management.
CM Orders Action in Budaun CBG Plant Incident
Separately, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the recent incident at a Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plant in Budaun as unfortunate and said the government has already taken swift action.
In a message posted on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted under the Bareilly Divisional Commissioner to conduct a fair and transparent investigation into the incident.
He informed that the main accused has already been arrested, but authorities will continue investigating all possible angles, including the possibility of any larger conspiracy.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government follows a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and criminals, and strict action will be taken if anyone else is found involved.
To strengthen security at the facility, a police outpost has also been established within the CBG plant premises. The Chief Minister extended his condolences to the bereaved families and assured them that the government stands firmly with them and will ensure justice.
