Construction of International Film City in YEIDA Region to Begin Next Month, Marking a New Era for Uttar Pradesh’s Film and Entertainment Industry
In a significant development aimed at transforming Uttar Pradesh into a vibrant hub for the film, media, and entertainment industries, the state government announced that construction work for the much-anticipated International Film City project is set to begin next month.
The state-of-the-art facility is being developed within the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region and is envisioned to become a landmark destination for cinematic arts, media production, and tourism over the coming years.
According to an official statement released on Saturday, this prestigious project is being spearheaded by Bayview Projects LLP, a company promoted by acclaimed filmmaker Boney Kapoor, and represents a major investment in the state’s cultural and economic future.
Preparatory Work Nears Completion as Project Gears Up for Groundbreaking
As per government sources, Bayview Projects LLP has already completed a substantial portion of the preparatory groundwork required before physical construction can commence.
Among the crucial tasks completed is the geo-technical survey of the proposed construction site, a process that determines the soil’s load-bearing capacity and other structural factors necessary for large-scale construction.
In addition to the survey, land leveling and preliminary infrastructure development—such as road construction, access points, and site cleaning—are already well underway.
These efforts are designed to ensure that once construction officially starts, it can proceed without delay or logistical hurdles.
It is expected that Bayview Projects LLP will submit the final building plan for approval within the coming days. Once this step is completed, the project will move swiftly into the construction phase.
The ceremonial laying of the foundation stone will be carried out by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, with officials currently coordinating with the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) to finalize the date and time for the event.
A Three-Phase Development Plan with Modern Studios and a Film Institute
According to Rajeev Arora, General Manager of Bayview Projects LLP, the entire Film City project will be executed in three phases over eight years. In the first phase, the company plans to develop 13 to 14 state-of-the-art film sound studios, which will be equipped with modern technologies to meet the evolving needs of filmmakers and production houses.
In addition, a film training institute will be established, aimed at nurturing new talent and providing professional training in various aspects of filmmaking, production, editing, and media arts.
The Phase 1 area alone spans approximately 230 acres and will involve an estimated investment of ₹1,510 crore, making it one of the largest infrastructure projects in the entertainment sector in North India.
The entire project is being built over a sprawling 1,000-acre area in Sector 21 of the Yamuna Expressway region.
The remaining 770 acres have been earmarked for the second and third phases of the project, which will see the development of additional studios, commercial complexes, exhibition spaces, and recreational zones, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for the entertainment industry.
Administrative and Legal Clearances Progressing Smoothly
The project has been progressing steadily through the necessary administrative and legal processes, thanks in large part to the proactive approach taken by both YEIDA and the Uttar Pradesh state government.
All steps, from land acquisition to farmer compensation, are being conducted efficiently and transparently, ensuring that the development does not face bureaucratic hurdles or social resistance.
In June last year, YEIDA officially signed a concession agreement with Bayview Projects LLP after the firm emerged as the top bidder for the project, offering the highest gross revenue share of 18%, a competitive bid that secured the company’s role as the developer.
Following this, the Letter of Award was issued to Bayview Projects, confirming their selection and outlining the terms and responsibilities for the project’s implementation.
The right-of-way for the project site was officially transferred to the company on February 27 of this year, allowing them legal access and development rights to the land.
Subsequently, the master plan for the International Film City was approved by relevant authorities on January 30, ensuring that the blueprint for the city aligns with both state development goals and international standards.
Expected Economic and Cultural Impact
Officials emphasized that the International Film City is not just an infrastructure project, but a strategic initiative aimed at revitalizing the economy, creating employment, and positioning Uttar Pradesh as a major player in India’s growing entertainment and tourism industries.
The project is expected to attract both domestic and international film producers, who will benefit from high-quality facilities and government incentives.
It will also open up significant opportunities for local artists, technicians, and creative professionals, while promoting Uttar Pradesh’s rich cultural and artistic heritage.
The establishment of a professional film institute as part of the project will further enable the state to train the next generation of media professionals, fostering an environment of innovation, education, and global collaboration.
Moreover, by drawing tourists, film lovers, and international filmmakers, the Film City is expected to contribute significantly to local tourism and support ancillary industries such as hospitality, transportation, catering, and event management.
A Vision for the Future
As the International Film City moves from the planning stage to reality, it stands as a symbol of Uttar Pradesh’s aspirations to modernize its economy, embrace creative industries, and provide world-class infrastructure that supports job creation and cultural promotion.
The successful execution of this mega-project will place Uttar Pradesh firmly on the national and global map as a premier destination for film production and creative arts.
With the groundbreaking ceremony expected soon, the countdown to a new cinematic future for the state has officially begun.
