Dalai Lama’s Office Firmly Denies Any Link With Jeffrey Epstein

The office of the Dalai Lama has categorically dismissed claims suggesting any connection between the Tibetan spiritual leader and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, stating unequivocally that no meeting, interaction, or authorization ever took place.

The clarification followed media reports alleging that the Dalai Lama’s name appeared 169 times in documents released by the United States Department of Justice as part of the widely discussed “Epstein files”.

In an official statement posted on X, the Dalai Lama’s office said that certain media reports and social media posts were attempting to draw misleading associations based on selective references in the documents.
“We can unequivocally confirm that His Holiness has never met Jeffrey Epstein, nor authorised any meeting or interaction with him by anyone acting on His Holiness’s behalf,” the statement said.

According to reports citing the DoJ records, the Dalai Lama’s name appeared in several personal emails connected to Epstein and in the index of a scanned copy of a book titled Massage for Dummies, which formed part of the case files.

Some outlets also referred to emails from October 2012 that allegedly hinted at a possible meeting or suggested that the Dalai Lama might attend an event where Epstein was expected to be present.

The controversy resurfaced after comments made last year by journalist Michael Wolff during an appearance on The Daily Beast podcast. Wolff spoke about informal gatherings, described as “salons”, allegedly hosted at Epstein’s Manhattan residence and attended by influential figures.

While listing attendees, he mentioned the Dalai Lama, speculating that any such presence—if it occurred—could have been linked to fundraising or philanthropic activities.

Subsequently, independent journalist Jacob Silverman referenced Wolff’s remarks in an article titled Why Was the Dalai Lama at Jeffrey Epstein’s House?, noting that the Dalai Lama’s office had not responded at that time to questions regarding any donations or association.

Further speculation was fuelled when European outlet Nexta TV claimed that individuals described as followers of the Dalai Lama may have had contact with Epstein, suggesting possible indirect links.

The Dalai Lama’s office has now firmly rejected all such insinuations, stressing that attempts to associate His Holiness with Epstein are unfounded and misleading.
