Day 6 of War: Middle East Conflict Widens as Drone Strikes, Naval Attacks and Air Bombardments Intensify

The military confrontation involving the United States, Israel, and Iran has now entered its sixth day, with hostilities spreading across multiple fronts in the Middle East and beyond.

The conflict has intensified with fresh drone strikes, large-scale air raids, and rising casualties as both sides escalate their military operations.

Iran’s armed forces on Thursday announced that they had launched drones targeting a United States military facility in Erbil in northern Iraq.

Iranian media described the strike as part of a wider retaliatory campaign against American and Israeli assets following ongoing bombardments inside Iranian territory.

At the same time, Israeli and American forces continued heavy aerial operations against Iranian targets.

The Israeli military carried out multiple waves of airstrikes on Tehran, hitting installations linked to Iran’s military command, missile infrastructure, and units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iranian officials stated that the death toll from the ongoing US-Israeli offensive has climbed to around 1,230 people, with thousands more injured as bombardments struck several cities and military sites across the country.

Naval Escalation Near Sri Lanka

The conflict has also expanded into the Indian Ocean region. A major incident occurred when a United States submarine torpedoed and sank the Iranian Navy frigate IRIS Dena off the southern coast of Sri Lanka.

At least 87 sailors were reportedly killed, while dozens of survivors were rescued and brought ashore by Sri Lankan authorities after the vessel sank in international waters.

Sri Lanka’s government later informed parliament that another Iranian naval vessel is now approaching the island nation’s maritime zone, prompting urgent discussions over whether the ship will be permitted to enter port for humanitarian or logistical reasons.

Wider Regional Fallout

The war is increasingly spreading beyond Iran’s borders. Missile launches from Iran toward Israel triggered air-raid sirens across several Israeli regions, while drone and missile activity has also been reported near strategic sites in the Gulf.

In Lebanon, Israel intensified strikes on positions believed to be linked to Hezbollah, raising fears that the conflict could expand into a broader regional war involving multiple allied groups.

Meanwhile, tensions in the Persian Gulf remain high as shipping routes face disruptions, sparking global concerns about energy supplies and maritime security.

Political and Diplomatic Developments

The geopolitical fallout continues to unfold. In Washington, the United States Congress voted down a proposal that sought to halt military operations against Iran, allowing President Donald Trump to continue the ongoing campaign.

In New Delhi, India officially conveyed condolences following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited the Iranian Embassy and signed the condolence register on behalf of the Government of India.

Tehran’s Warning

Iran has issued a strong warning that any attempt by the United States or Israel to overthrow its government could provoke severe retaliation.

Iranian officials indicated that Israel’s Dimona nuclear facility could become a potential target if efforts to bring about regime change are pursued.

As fighting intensifies across land, sea, and air, global observers warn that the confrontation is rapidly evolving into a wider regional conflict with far-reaching geopolitical consequences.
