Prayagraj — Encroachments along the stretch of River Front Road between Bakshi Bandh and Dashashwamedh Ghat will soon be removed. Municipal Commissioner Seelam Sai Teja has issued directives to clear the roadside encroachments.

After the floodwaters receded, the Municipal Commissioner visited the site for inspection on Thursday. During the inspection, he noticed several encroachments along the road. On the spot, he instructed engineers to measure the road and mark the encroached portions. He further directed Pankaj Shukla, the officer in charge of encroachment at the Municipal Corporation, to initiate immediate action.

During this visit, a dilapidated building was also identified on the roadside. Orders were given for its demolition to prevent any potential hazard. The commissioner also instructed for an intensive cleaning drive in the Daraganj area and spraying of anti-larva medicine to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases.

Land Mafia Seizes Panchayat Land Using Forged Documents

It has come to light that land mafias are now targeting Gram Panchayat land, attempting to seize it through fraudulent means. In one such case, they allegedly used forged signatures of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM). Suspicion arose when papers were found written in ink of a different color, leading to an investigation that exposed the fraud.

As a result, the land was restored to the Gram Panchayat’s name, and a proposal has been made to construct a 50-bed hospital on the site. The value of the land is estimated at ₹16 crore. Orders have been issued to lodge an FIR against those involved in the forgery.

In the Maharoodeeh area under Soraon tehsil, a parcel of Gram Panchayat land (Gata No. 425, measuring approximately 0.3060 hectares) located along the Prayagraj–Lucknow highway was illegally occupied. The land, originally recorded as barren, was taken over by encroachers.

When a complaint reached the District Magistrate, he directed SDM Heera Lal Saini to investigate. The report submitted by the Naib Tehsildar confirmed that the names of residents Hira Lal Yadav and his wife Kusum Devi had been fraudulently recorded in the land documents through forged papers. SDM Soraon Heera Lal Saini described the matter as serious, confirming that the land has been re-registered in the name of the Gram Sabha and that FIRs have been ordered against the accused.
