The patch of land in the sangam area which was dry has flowing Ganga water now.

Efforts had been going on since long to make the flow of sufficient Ganga water available in this patch in view of coming Mahakumbh that witnesses a massive gathering of devotees.
The flood wing of the Irrigation department had been carrying out this task for the past nearly a month to facilitate smooth flow of Ganga river here.
A channel had been dug up from Shastri bridge upto sangam nose.
A dozen Polland machines had been pressed into service to carry out dredging in three kilometre span to dig up a canal. The canal is three metre deep and has a width of 25 metres.
This will be the main stream of Ganga during the Maha Kumbh.
Development of Sangam area has been made easy with this new flow of Ganga in this stretch of land that witnesses strong oresence of bathersm tourists and devours all round the year.
The area bustles with religious activities every year during the annual magh mela but gains heightened significance during the Maha Kumbh that sees evey ‘Akhara’ camping along the course of the river.
