Indian Security forces gunned down four terrorists in an encounter in Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. Two security personnel laid down their lives in this encounter that took place in Chinigam Mudargam areas in this district.
The operation launched against the terrorists was still reported to be going on as the possibility of the presence of more terrorists has not been ruled out.
The first encounter took place in Mudargam village. The security forces after getting news of the presence of terrorists had launched a pincer like strike and movement since early Saturday morning.
The terrorists opened fire at the security forces after they launched the search and combing in the area.. This sudden attack by the terrorists resulted in injuries to a security personnel who later succumbed to his injuries during the course of treatment at a hospital.
The second encounter took place in Chinigam area where exchange of fire lasted for several hours between terrorists and security forces.
Four terrorists were gunned down by the security forces here. The search and combing in the area was still reported to be going on.
Terrorists had launched several big attacks in Jammu and Kashmir region last month.
Several persons had died in Riyasi. Kathua and Doda attacks orchestrated by terrorists.
Nine pilgrims had died in the Riyasi attack and seven security personnel had been injured . The bus carrying pilgrims was suddenly rained with bullets by terrosists who were lying in wait in the middle of the road. As a result the driver hit by bullets lost control over the steering and the bus had plunged down a deep gorge. This resulted in the death of nine pilgrims and injuries to several other bus occupants.. One CRPF jawan had also lost his life in this attack. Security forces later gunned down two terrorists in Kathua village.
Home minister Amit Shah had convened a meeting last month in which security parameters were viewed and instructions were issued to deal with terror activities in the area with a heavy hand. Since then there had been no looking back as security forces were engaged in round the clock vigil in this area.
