Comedy king Kapil Sharma has once again proved that humour is his strongest shield — even in the face of real-life danger.
The past year has been far from smooth for Kapil. His newly opened restaurant in Canada, Kaps Cafe, was targeted in three separate firing incidents within just four months. Though no one was injured, the attacks sent shockwaves through his team and fans alike.
While investigations continue, and multiple criminal gangs have reportedly claimed responsibility, the situation created serious concern around Kapil’s safety.
Yet, staying true to his fearless comic spirit, Kapil chose laughter over fear.
Cracking Jokes Amid Chaos
At the “Next on Netflix” event held in Mumbai on Tuesday, Kapil took the stage to announce the fifth season of his hugely popular show The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix India.
During a conversation with Netflix India CEO Monika Shergill, a playful remark referencing Bollywood’s famous “11 mulkon ki police” dialogue set the tone.
Monika joked that India has always kept an eye on Kapil — hopefully not the police of multiple countries.
Kapil shot back with effortless wit:
“These days, gangsters from a couple of countries are also keeping an eye on me.”
The audience burst into laughter as Kapil subtly referenced the shooting incidents at his cafe. Realising the seriousness of the joke, he immediately asked the media to cut the line — only to remember the event was being livestreamed.
The moment perfectly captured Kapil’s ability to transform even fear into humour.
Not the First Time He Spoke About It
Earlier, at the trailer launch of his comedy film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, Kapil had spoken more openly about the situation.
He revealed that the incidents escalated to such an extent that discussions were reportedly held at the federal level in Canada. Despite the danger, Kapil maintained a surprisingly optimistic outlook.
“After every incident, our café actually got more visitors,” he said. “So I believe if God is with me, everything will be fine.”

While Season 4 of The Great Indian Kapil Show is currently airing weekly episodes, Netflix has already renewed it for an unprecedented fifth season — a rare achievement for any comedy series, especially amid fluctuating rankings.
