From Staged Accident to Cold-Blooded Plot: Newlywed Wife Accused of Orchestrating Husband’s Murder With Lover
Bikaner: What initially appeared to be a tragic hit-and-run robbery has now unravelled into a chilling tale of betrayal, deception and a carefully planned murder.
The death of 27-year-old schoolteacher Ashish Kumar on January 30, found lying by a roadside beside his newly married wife, has taken a shocking turn with police alleging it was a premeditated killing masterminded by his own spouse.
Days after the incident, investigators arrested Ashish’s wife Anjali (23), her alleged lover Sanjay alias Sanju (25), along with two of his friends — Rohit alias Rocky (20) and Badal alias Siddharth (20).
Police claim Anjali plotted her husband’s murder after rekindling her relationship with Sanjay, determined to remove Ashish from her life.
Ashish’s body was discovered on a deserted road near village 01 KLM in the Rawla police station area, with Anjali found lying nearby.
She initially told relatives that the couple had been struck by an unknown vehicle while out for a walk after dinner. Ashish was declared dead at the nearest hospital, while Anjali was shifted to a medical facility in Bikaner.
However, the postmortem report told a very different story. Doctors found Ashish had been brutally beaten with sticks and strangled — injuries inconsistent with a road accident. This prompted the police to intensify their probe.
According to Rawla SHO Balwant Singh, Anjali had been unhappy with her marriage from the beginning and had returned to her parental home shortly after the wedding.
It was there, police allege, that she resumed her relationship with Sanjay, and together they hatched the murder plan.
To execute it, Anjali reportedly returned to her husband’s house and pretended everything was normal.
On the night of January 30, she accompanied Ashish for a walk. Meanwhile, Sanjay and his two accomplices were hiding in bushes around 200 metres away, waiting for the couple to reach a secluded stretch of road.
As per the police version, the attackers then emerged and assaulted Ashish with sticks, killing him on the spot.
To stage the crime as a robbery, Anjali allegedly handed over her husband’s mobile phone and earrings to the accused and feigned unconsciousness beside his body.
“Sustained interrogation and evidence from the scene exposed the entire conspiracy,” the SHO said.
He added that Ashish had only recently secured a teaching job at a private school — just three days before his death — and lived with his parents and extended family.
The case has drawn unsettling parallels with other recent incidents involving marital betrayal and meticulously staged crimes, once again highlighting how appearances can mask deeply disturbing truths.
